by Lee Austin

While the inspiration to compile this anthology is a result of the media treatment of the war on terrorism and the war in Iraq, they were pulled together by the author from the poems he has written over the past thirty-five years. These Ten Patriotic Poems are a tour de force of what it means to be a true American.

It is the poet’s hope that this simple little book will cause Americans to reflect on the sacrifices of those who serve this great nation.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

A former paratrooper, Lee Austin dispels any notion that poetry is for sissies. In fact, poetry writing has been his hobby for over thirty-five years. He learned to love poetry at the knee of his mother, who used to recite great poems of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries to friends and family. As an adult, he has spent many happy evenings reading poetry with families and friends. While most of his verse is light and humorous, he also writes serious rhymes.

Lee and his wife, Sue, have been married for forty-three years.
