In its war on terrorism, the U.S. government creates the Inter-agency Crisis Interdiction Team (ICIT), an organization whose mission is to interdict and stop terrorist groups before they act.
When Special Forces Staff Sergeant David Michaels joins ICIT, FBI Special Agent Belky Hassan discovers that Dave’s father, unknown even to his family, is a longtime FBI undercover agent code named Red Ford, who has been reporting on domestic terrorists since the days of the Weathermen. Only Belky knows.
Red Ford is attacked and Dave’s mother is kidnapped. Dave, working with his Special Forces teammates, Red Ford, and Belky, sets out to locate and free his mother. At the same time, he must battle interagency rivalries and a traitor within ICIT. It is a battle Dave must not lose.

The son of a career Army noncommissioned officer, John D. Covington was born in Olympia, Washington, and raised in the world. John joined the Army in 1970, retiring in 1993. Since his retirement, he and his wife have served in the American Foreign Service, currently in Mexico City.
