Imprisoned for Life in the Land of the Unfree: The Plight of African Americans in the American System of "Justus"

What is taking place in the mind's eye is not necessarily real or factual. It is merely perceived to be real by one's life experiences. The OBJECT LESSON in this "life school" is to endeavor to think objectively in the effort of extracting the TRUTH of what is in the mind from the perceived reality. This is a most difficult task, indeed, but one that must be performed ere we are to succeed on our life's journey of becoming "whole" persons. For none of us are, as yet, whole beings. I am speaking specifically of myself and my African American brothers and sisters born or inducted into slavery. For there are many of us who still bear the scars of our induction and the chains on our minds wrought through the diabolical process of indoctrination. And we wear them well…which is a sad reality.
We each travel different paths to reach that desired destination. There is - in this life - no single or specifically designated passage of travel to get us there. May your journey be complete. With patience, you will reach your destination, yet - only by remaining focused - will you truly "arrive."
YOU MUST PREPARE your mind for a long and tedious journey. One fraught with treachery even, and sometimes especially, from within your own ranks (for almost anyone can be bought for a price). This, not to mention the dangers, toils, and snares - as well as the dark and unseen corners that exist at every turn - from without.
Here is a SECRET that I am still in the process of learning. Hopefully it will make your travels a little easier. The FEWER WORDS SPOKEN on the path, the easier the journey. A "loose tongue" will get you sidetracked, and possibly cause you to become shipwrecked on the voyage to wholeness, because you will become distracted from your journey's goal.
PREPARE FOR AND EXPECT the darkness to come, for it is of necessity that it must come. Only thereby can you fully appreciate the light when it begins to shine. For it will shine again - I promise you. The SECRET is to REMEMBER THIS when the darkness falls.
…Wait out the darkness with patience, for it is trying to tell you something: something vital for the journey. If you are not silent - or are even thinking too loud - you will miss it.
TRUST is critical, for there is an invisible enemy out there who rules the darkness and he has many cohorts on his team (both visible and invisible).
THE JOURNEY TO WHOLENESS is not an easy one to travel, but a necessary one. The reward will be great if you will only press on to the end - whatever "end" that proves to be in your particular case. The reward to be gained will be far worth all the perils of the journey.
BUT KNOW THIS: if - for whatever reason - you give up; if the journey is in any way incomplete; if you fall, in any way, short of the finish line - you will remain..
