The Dark Side of Sunshine is a coming-of-age story set in Spanish Harlem, New York in 1945. Narrated by a young girl named Trisha, this is her story of growing up in an environment plagued with prostitution, pimps, drugs, murder, and other tragedies. Faced with these harsh realities, her wide-eyed innocence gives way to a hard-earned maturity.
The Dark Side of Sunshine chronicles Trisha’s young life, sharing her experiences in a time and place where hopes and dreams are contrasted by what lies on the other side of sunshine.
