Finding himself on the wrong career path and life unfolding rapidly before him, Michael Beckman is presented with an unexpected opportunity to change direction, something many dream about. It is not in theoretical physics, which he loves and in which he holds a doctorate, but as CEO of his deceased uncle’s conglomerate of companies, Magnum Corporation. A chance meeting with a beautiful and very intelligent woman gives Michael pause. To the cities and bush of South Africa and Namibia Michael travels, along with close associates and his two bodyguards, to unravel the plots and thwart powerful old-line political families and ruthless men bent on Magnum’s elimination from South Africa. Fighting erupts at Magnum’s gold and diamond mines with the tide of battle swinging wildly back and forth. With death at every turn, the coin collection, part of his uncle’s endowment to him, becomes a powerful tool in the fight between good and evil.

Dr. Gene J. Gonsoulin grew up in south Louisiana, in Cajun country, home of crawfish ettouffee and Zydeco. Wandering the bayous, marshes, and swamps, his childhood was framed by fishing, duck hunting, and catching snakes and alligators. His intense interest in nature spurred a career in environmental science and, after graduating from Vanderbilt University, Gene taught in the university system and later opened his own environmental engineering and related companies. He has worked in every state but one and many foreign countries. Gene jokes that he was never able to find a client who would pay him to go to Hawaii. From Alabama, where he now resides, this rich backdrop of experience forms the basis for his writing and, being a pilot, his love of flying is always in there somewhere.
