by Joseph A. Bonelli
Iloni, a tiny mountain village in the Congo, has strange neighbors: gorchimps, a super-smart cross between gorillas and chimps. Primatologists, hunters, world press, and anthropologists converge. Why is Homeland Security protecting this place? A pharmaceutical giant buys out the bottled water franchise, the village’s only economic asset. Why are people here so healthy, why so few children? Events here are all being monitored by extraterrestrial historian/anthropologists from Sirius.
This is crossover genre: African adventure, paired with old-fashioned funny sci-fi, featuring a kaleidoscope of colorful, kooky characters, both human and alien. It is nicer than current reality – for the young and young of heart.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I’m the usual American success story. I spent time in an orphanage, grew up poor, and started my own company at ten (mowing lawns). I received my bachelor of arts degree in comparative world literature from the University of Southern California and my masters degree in social service administration from the University of Chicago.
I worked in Sacramento for the state of California, in D.C. for the Feds, and at the local level and in private industry. I was a social worker, program analyst, regulations writer, CPS supervisor, substitute teacher, and medical social worker. I like to hike, camp, and snorkel around the world with my wife of forty years.
