This is a heart-warming story told through the eyes of big brother Matthew. Matthew is five years old and dreams about traveling to far away places. His best friend is a cat named Merlina who has special powers. They travel through their imaginations from Mexico to Louisiana’s bayou country. Unexpectedly, Matthews thoughts turn to his sick brother, Michael.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Evelyn Bosworth is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. She was inspired to write A Christmas Gift for Michael because her beloved brother Danny was born with severe birth defects. Bosworth thinks the children living under similar circumstances will appreciate this story and the message of hope.
“Silent Night” and “Broken Hearts” are two inspirational poems written by Bosworth and published by the Famous Poet Society. Presently she is teaching middle school science and has a wholehearted interested in space science. She has one child, Jennifer, who is studying at a local university.
ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR
Jack Bosworth is a first grade teacher at a public school in Vacherie, Louisiana. This is Jack’s first collection of illustrations. He is also a native of New Orleans and a nephew of the author. Jack’s hobbies include art, music, and the family’s genealogy.
This book is dedicated to the loving memory of the
author’s brother, Danny Diamond Bosworth.
